WEEK 11: 4/7/17

This week we accomplished the impossible. We finally completed the fifth challenge!! We are so happy that it is done before spring break and can now relax a bit. We also completed our robot build on solid works. Thanks to Richie's skills we completed it relatively easy. Now that we've picked up the pace a bit we can focus on the hardest challenge of them all. KEEP IT LIT!!!

WEEK 11: 4/3/17

This week our objective is to finish the fifth robot challenge. This is to pick up the ball autonomously and drop in the tube cylinder. We have to program the arm to lift to the perfect height to drop the ball inside. It has been quite a challenge so far. The battery is proving to be a big part in the challenge. If the battery is too full the arm will go too far back and if it isn't charged enough it will not raise high enough. Hopefully by the end of the week we have it figured out. KEEP IT LIT!!!

WEEK 10: 3/28/17

This week we've already accomplished a ton. Richie finished the Solid Works for the first bot. Now he needs to add the arm and the mouth. We finished the task of using the remote control to pick up the two racquetballs, use the motor controlled mouth to ingest them and spit them out, then drop them in the pipe. We added new hardware of a "mouth".  We are now getting close at coding the bot to pick up one ball autonomously. Real Deal is running away with the lead.

WEEK 10: 3/27/17

These are screenshots of our Square Bot in Solid Works. We have included a top, front, side, and isometric view. Richie has been working on it on the side for some time now. We feel he did a good job. Real Deal is #toohottohandle

WEEK 9: 3/23/17

Earlier this week we finished the previous challenge of having our robot autonomously placing the tetrahedron on the post. On to the next challenge. Now we must, using the remote control, pick up two racquetballs and drop them in the pipe. We want to figure out how we'll go about doing that then add the required hardware. We would also like to finish the Solid Works today. Real Deal is in full throttle!

Week 9: 3/20/17

This week our goal is to finish Solidworks as well as finish the fourth challenge. In this challenge we have to get our robot to autonomously put the tetrahedron on to the goal. We are almost done but we have to make sure the robot travels three tiles before it goes on the goal as well as angle the arm directly over it. Richie is working on Solidworks but he is having some difficulty finding some parts. Hopefully we get all of this done by the end of the quarter. REAL DEAL SAUCY WITH IT!!!

Week 8: 3/17/17

Since we finished the challenge this week we are on to he next one. Amani is trying to figure out how to successfully program the robot and the arm to autonomously work. This is kind of tricky but nothing is to hard for THE REAL DEAL. While he is doing that we are still working on solid works. It might seem to be easy but it can be difficult at times. Hopefully we pull through this one quickly. WE LIT!!!

WEEK 8: 3/14/17

It's official, Richie is a stud. He is by far our best driver. Just a couple days into our new task, he was able to successfully manuever the bot to place two tetrahedrons on top of the post for a grand total of 100 points. He had to do it in one minute and it only took him fifty seconds. We also made a tetrahedron of our own out of pencils. We were the only the team on that task and were the first to finish it. Now we have to set the bot up three tiles away and code it to pick up the tetrahedron and place it on the post autonomously. #wedemengineeringboyz

WEEK 7: 3/10/17

This week we built our fork-like mechanism. We have added an arm to our Square Bot. We've coded it and it works. We have to build another Tetrahedron figure. To complete this task, we have to, using the remote controlled bot, pick up and place two Tetrahedron on the post in one minute for 100 points (50 points each). We need more practice with the bot because right now it is difficult. Real Deal is leading the pack!

WEEK 7: 3/6/17

Week 7 is a go! We were the first group to successfully accomplish programming our robot to circle the chairs autonomously. On to the next challenge. Now we have to get our robot to pick up the  tetrahedron and place it on the post. Our goals this week are to program our Square bot to follow the remote control. We also need to build onto our robot's infrastructure and add a forklift-like mechanism. #getmoneyspendmoney

WEEK 6: 3/3/17

Today marked the end of Week 6. We were officially the first group to successfully have our Squarebot circle the chairs three times autonomously. Now we have to start the polygon vex challenge. We don't know what that requires, yet. But we'll get it. REAL DEAL ON TOP!

Week 6: 2/28/17

Week 6 is underway. We originally wrote the code to circle the chairs once and then looped it to repeat. That had problems so we just repeated the code 3 times. The code works but the robot often veers to the left and runs into the chairs. We need to overcome this setback and get the Squarebot to perform more consistently. Persevering!

WEEK 5: 2/24/17

Today we are trying to finish code our square bot. It is proving to be very difficult. The robot is able to move forward and make turns autonomously but we are running into problems. After it goes around the chairs it does a couple 360 turns that we don't want. Also, the right motor isn't functioning properly. We hope to resolve these problems ASAP!!!

WEEK 5: 2/21/17

This week we start coding our square bot! We received our first challenge from Mr Martin which is to go around two chairs which cover eight floor tiles. This will be very challenging because we cannot use the controller to do this, it must be autonomous. We are trying to finish this challenge as fast as we can so that we can be one step ahead of the game. We are truly THE REAL DEAL!

WEEK 4: 2/17/17

Today marks the end of week four. We have successfully built our squarebot as well as code it for remote control. Now we have a new challenge. We're attempting to code it for autonomous actions. Wish us luck!

WEEK 4: 2/13/17

Today is the start of Week 4. It is our first official full week building. We have decided to build a Squarebot. We are following the instructions from VexRobotics. This will be a challenge for us because none of us have much experience with the tools, parts, or jargon. We are learning as we go. We want to build the robot as the instructions specify. We're gonna figure it out. Keeping it REAL!

WEEK 3: 2/10/17

Today we handed in our badges and now the real challenge begins: WE START BUILDING ROBOTS!!! Since we are the first group to finish with virtual worlds we get to pick the cart and the table we will be using for the rest of the year. But before we start building we must take the old robot apart. It has been somewhat challenging since most of us don't know how to take a robot apart and we barely know about the tools. This will be very challenging, but we will survive!

WEEK 3: 2/7/17

This week we are trying to finish getting all of our badges. These are screenshots of the badges we have collected so far in Virtual World. We have badges from Ruins of Atlantis and Curriculum Companion. We only need a few more until we have 30. Then we can begin building robots. We are almost there. Working hard!

WEEK 2: 2/3/17

Today, our whole group started coding and proceeded to work on Ruins of Atlantis to obtain badges. Amani is in the lead with 20+ badges and its only been the first week! He is the GOAT of robot coding. The rest of the group members are trying to catch up to him but it's a tough task. It is really tough at first but once you get the hang of it it's a piece of cake.

WEEK 2: 2/1/17

In our first week as the group Real Deal, we began using the program Virtual World. We have to earn 30 badges before we can build robots. Amani, using his Squarebot, earned a Progress Badge while executing the basketball drill. Richie helped to modify a sample program in code. Starting off strong!

WEEK 1: 1/27/17

This week we started our Robotic Presentations. Our group had to do a presentation on Solidworks. It was relatively easy because we just finished the Solidworks certification test so we are basically professionals at it. When other teams presented we learned a lot about the different parts of the robots and what we need to do to succeed in robot building.
